FAQ

  • What do I need to bring?

Only yourselves. You’re welcome to bring your own mat but we do have plenty at Yeofit. If you’d like to bring water please make sure it’s in a bottle that won’t spill. For Pregnancy & Post-natal classes bring whatever you need for your baby. I can put some extra mats down for them to lie on.

  • What should I wear?

Comfortable clothes that you can move easily in. You’ll warm up throughout the class so layers are advised. I don’t mind if you’re barefoot or wearing socks. Preferably avoid clothes with too many zips as these can tear the mats.

  • I'm recovering from an injury, can I still do Pilates?

I ask that all clients fill out a health form before attending class so I’m aware of individual needs. Nearly all Pilates exercises can be modified making the class suitable for everyone.

  • Is the Beginner class too advanced for me?

In this class we’re learning the Level 1 order of Pilates exercises. Nearly every exercise can be modified to make it easier, harder or tailored to individual needs. I make use of props where necessary and often have several people in the class doing an exercise slightly differently.

  • Is the Beginner class too easy for me?

The beginner class is suitable for all abilities as each exercise can be modified. Even if you’ve been doing Pilates for a while you may find there’s more to learn from the classical way of teaching.

  • Why do you only do small group classes?

I teach the bodies in front of me. That means that I’m always adjusting and modifying exercises or giving particular cues in order to help clients get the most out of their Pilates class. The most people I can do this for at a high enough level is 8, I just don’t have enough eyes for classes of 30!

  • Is there a maximum age for babies coming to class?

Not really. We’ve had babies as young as 3 weeks to 2 year old toddlers. Obviously once little ones are on the move you might find the need to do more supervision and less Pilates, but as long as your child is unlikely to spend the whole class kissing/licking/kicking/climbing other babies or mums then it’s more the merrier.

  • How soon after giving birth can I come to class?

This completely depends on your personal circumstances. Usually I prefer you to have had your 6/8 week check and have been cleared to exercise by your GP. However, you know your body and if you feel comfortable doing some light exercise before then you’re welcome to come and I’ll modify the exercises accordingly.

  • Can I do Pilates at any stage of my pregnancy?

Yes, you absolutely can. This class is low impact and is more focused on breathing, strength and mobility. I use props such as balls and bands to help you exercise in an appropriate way.

  • What's the cafe like?

The Yeo Valley cafe is open from 09:30 to 11:30 serving various meals and snacks. It’s a lovely, friendly venue and I can personally vouch for the flap jack.
